Who Are We?
About 1 in 4 people in Singapore develop cancer in their lifetime, and this life changing disease can affect individuals in multiple aspects other than physical health, ranging from mental health to financial difficulties. At Project Draw for Love, a collaboration with NCIS, we hope to plug these gaps and contribute to the overall holistic wellbeing of cancer patients by bringing their creative ideas to merchandise. Join us in our journey to celebrate and support these talented individuals. Our 3 main missions are stated below.
Our Missions
Project Draw for Love is dedicated to showcasing the artistic talent of cancer patients, and lend them a voice to tell their stories through art. By providing a creative outlet for patients, we aim to offer them a sense of purpose and empowerment. Engaging with imagination and mindfulness to create art not only helps to lower stress levels, but also helps patients to reflect on their emotions regarding their journey, thus boosting the mental health of the artists. Furthermore, through self expression via artistic mediums, artists can also take charge of their own narrative and create pieces that accurately reflect themselves and their unique stories, and this achievement of creating something meaningful and original can increase their self esteem too.
Project Draw for Love aims to not only support the artists of our collaborative organisation, but the wider community of cancer patients and their families as well. By making the merchandise wearable, we hope that our merchandise's designs can strike up conversations within the public and raise awareness for various types of cancer our artists have. Creating these meaningful conversations can also help to further destigmatise cancer within our society and let other patients and their families know that they are not alone in their struggles. This can help improve the mental health and sense of community and belonging that others may struggle to find. Our webpage on our artists and their stories seek to achieve this same goal.
Last but not least, Project Draw for Love aims to raise funds in support of cancer patients and research. 100% of proceeds are donated directly to NCIS in support of cancer research and disease subsidies, in order to help make cancer treatments more successful and accessible to all.
